AHEPA Service Dogs for Veterans
For nearly 10 years, AHEPA Chapters across the country have supported the AHEPA Service Dogs initiative. To date, over $1 million has been raised by AHEPA nation-wide funding the training of hundreds of service dogs who help our nation’s veterans on a daily basis.
AHEPA Ch. 438 specifically has funded more than 10 dogs’ training and is currently raising funds to support more dogs. If you’d like to donate EMAIL US.
Each DAY 22 Veterans Commit Suicide
Every so often, a humanitarian cause comes along that captures our imagination and causes us to stand up and answer the call of duty. So many of our American heroes came home from war physically, but those who battle PTSD remain on the battlefield mentally, imprisoned by their own thoughts. Although they battle PTSD daily, many are unable to cope with the effects of their invisible battle scars. Sadly, the casualties continue to mount as 22 veterans commit suicide every single day.
This is where service dogs come in –– think of them as a medical instrument on four legs. At a cost of $15,000 each, they have repeatedly been proven to help mitigate a veteran’s suffering and are instrumental in helping them restore normalcy to their lives. The service dogs themselves are rescue dogs...just imagine saving a life to save a life!
